+10! And now you know exactly what we are talking about - or rather, about whom! UnMode met 10 more Ukrainian citizens in Georgia border.
Most of them arrived from the TDCFC Gulkevichi (Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens of the Department of the ministry of internal affairs of russia in Gulkevichi district).
Two of the group have deportation status due to migration violations, one of them is a woman. This is not the first time that we help women - ex-prisoners from Ukraine. They began to be expelled from russia to Georgia more and more often, and later we will definitely tell about the difficulties that women in this category have to face.
UnMode ensured the transfer of the group to a safe place where the guys can recover and live for free for some time, we signed a social support agreement with 5 of the group - they need our legal assistance. We are also glad that part of the group decided to be self-sufficient, we always stay in touch.
The UnMode team helps ex-imprisoned Ukrainians in preparing and translating documents into Georgian, organizing legal support and assistance in coordinating with government agencies. Now we have submitted lists of people applying for so-called “white passports” - permits to travel to Ukraine.
Back story:
In the fall of 2022, more than 2,500 Ukrainians who were in the institutions of the penitentiary system of the temporarily occupied Kherson region of Ukraine were taken by russian special services through Crimea to russia. After the end of the term of serving the sentence, the released Ukrainians are transferred indefinitely to the local TDCFC (Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens). There is currently no single mechanism for the deportation of such people.
These days require maximum efficiency and involvement in all processes from our team. We asked: what gives you the strength to continue your work?
And here is what our colleagues said:
“Thirst for justice and team spirit”;
“Inspiration from teamwork, faith in the correctness of our path”;
“Team connection, a common goal, in addition to understanding the right thing, our leader who energizes, motivates and inspires confidence, this is our mentor, our reliable friend!“
We keep on support Ukrainians staying in russian prisons and are looking for resources to help each of them return home. It seems impossible, but in spite of everything, we believe in the power of civil society and in the power of goodness. Good always and invariably conquers any evil.
